Radio arrived this morning! Many thanks.
I used to buy from your main competitor, but not any more. In April 2008, I bought a "new" FT2000,which clearly wasn't new at all. They did swap it after many phone calls and emails including a threat of legal action. Also, last March I ordered an IC-E92D and spare battery. The radio was OK but the battery had been used and was marked. I let that one go as I didn't relish the thought of another battle.
Later this year, I shall be putting my FT-2000 on eBay and I shall be buying a Kenwood TS-590, once I have the necessary cash. I shall be buying from Martin Lynch from now on! I'd buy one now but I've just bought my 17 year old a car and am a bit skint. The insurance was the killer!

Well I never thought I would do it but the Kenwood TS950SDX is in its box after 15 years of faultless operation, the new FTdx5000 has impressed me so much. The rig and the filtering is an absolute pleasure to use; another casualty of the change was my BHI audio filter it's not needed, so Chris likes the less cluttered look as well. I have had very good audio reports using it on SSB but I love the CW side, plenty of memory buffers on the keyer and the 300hz filter for really in close working. I surprised myself by how much I have used the second receiver and it's nice to find it's not a compromise as is so often the case.
The SM500 scope and speaker work very well and look a lot better in the real world than the photos in the magazines, I sat yesterday morning working one JA after another on the key on 18mhz with a big smile on my face.

I think this rig is going to stay on the desk for a long time.

I'm very happy with this radio.Today morning i received the ISS satellite on 145.800 mhz fm with a 5/8 vertical gp; the satellite signal was 59!! The radio is going wery well,as a new radio it sems to be younger than 30 years old and also in electrical/estetical mint conditions. This radio would be one of the latest yaesu ft 225 rd production, cause it get a serial number from the end of 1980!!

I'm very happy wirth this radio and hope to buy soon other items on martin lynch and sons.

Thanks for the personnal service on Saturday 18th September 2010, re:- purchase of FT-DX5000D and MD-200-A8X Microphone. Wife enjoyed the tea, luckily distracted away from the money side Hi.

The Radio really does really do everything that Peter Hart say's in his Radcom article. The receive audio with the SM5000 unit set to the loudness position is great and transmit audio with the EQ settup to suit the MD-200-A8X has received very good reports, thanks for recomending that microphone Martin.

The Receiver is second to none, you can work a station on 40 meters one Kilocycle away which is a first for me. Have got to get around many of the finer adjustments to get full feel of the radio but great so far, I can compare it with many different radio's and it really comes out tops.

Dear Martin,

By way of this e-mail I would like to thank you for all the effort and support that went into the processing of my order of the Yaesu FTDX-5000D and all its accessories, plus the linears that I procured and the AT600 antenna tuning units, mostly while I was away in Switzerland.

I have completed the install of the FTDX-5000D and its associated equipment for my main H.F. station, and I now have some reasonable experience using it since then. I must say that I never expected the FT2000D (that is now my 'backup/secondary' H.F. rig) would be bettered, but looking at the specs before buying it I was impressed. I never expected this to be borne out so magnificantly as it has shown itself to be in practice, however; I can confidentally state that this is the very best H.F. / 6m outfit I have ever had the pleasure of using. Remember, I say this as a professional in communications, specializing in the Space business, now retired early but still very active in development and design.

I should also thank your despatch folks for the great cooperation and timing and careful packing of the delivery for me, and your workshop for assistance in helping me get the most out of the DMU with this rig at the same time as the Station Monitor SM-5000.

In short, I would like to say that your company has its customers interests very close to heart and provides absolutely excellent service and shipping in addition to good communication, this is appreciated very much by myself and I assume many, many others. You are certainly the Number 1 of such companies in the U.K. and maybe even Europe, or should be.

There used to be a small company near me who handled Amateur Radio equipment, mainly Yaesu (who I bought the FT2000D from and a few other
items) but they stopped the Amateur side of their business after "political" problems with Yaesu who would no longer deliver to them even though they were a professional outfit with workshop facilities etc.
However now having done serious business with you (and I prefer that as an ex-pat Englishman) you deserve nothing but compliments: I hope that business for you continues and that it remains profitable such that you continue for many, many years to come in todays changeable world.

I think it is not the last time that I am an active customer of yours!

Just to update you on the FT-2000 used with the Alpha Delta DX-CC antenna now I have had a chance to play.What a combination! I used to think that buying a fabricated antenna made of wire was a big ask, but when they are engineered as well as the DX-CC, my opinion changed dramatically. Several S points more on most bands than my 10 metre long endfed vertical, including on some bands it's not resonant on! Tonight the proof of the pudding was in the eating, I worked LU2QC on 15 meters SSB using this amazing antenna and superb radio, getting through a considerable pile up to get my longest distance QSO to-date.

I've recently ordered my latest lot of bits and pieces from yourself and although I won't get them for a few days yet (they're on back-order, Wouxun stuff) I thought you might like to hear about some good customer service I received. This doesn't mean I normally get bad service from yourselves (other outlets do that very well !), but in this instance nothing was at all forgotten and I thought what happened was worth mentioning.

Unfortunately I can't remember the man's name, but I do remember he said that he normally just deals with the back-orders, does that help I.D. him? When I ordered the kit last week he was very helpful and efficient and quickly found the answers to questions I had about options and prices. Today, when I rang up with a query relating to the rubberduck antenna that comes with the 4m handheld I spoke to the same person again. He said he didn't know the answers and that as you'd just dissapeared for lunch (you have time to eat, must be a perk of being the boss !) he'd find out when you returned and call me back. He did all of this as promised and very promptly. A short while later when he found out that there would be a delay in the rubberducks arriving with you he rang me up to let me know.

It might not sound like much to shout about to some people, and he might not think he did anything special, but the man who "just deals with back orders" did you proud. He answered all questions, got answers when necessary, was prompt and gave me extra information he thought would be useful. A lot of so called sales people don't manage to achieve this ! Please let him know he's made a good impression.

That Alpha Delta DX-CC? Even in less than ideal installation conditions (some of it is a foor or so from my roof and close to other metal objects), it is resonant on all the bands it claims to be, covering a huge proportion of 80 metres without a tuner. If someone is really tight for space, I thoroughly recommend that antenna - I was making contacts last night - with just one call I was breaking through the other callers.

Thanks again for repairing my TS2000X. The radio came back to me yesterday and is now working again. You provided an excellent service and it was a remarkable turn around considering I only dropped it off on Tuesday and it was back before lunch on Thursday which includes the time for the delivery.

This level of service is only possible because you have built up an on-site service facility and maintain a team at the shop, other dealers would "return to manufacturer" which could leave customers waiting for weeks.

I have been a customer of yours since the early days in Ealing, I am sure you remember that little shop. I remember regular trips up the A3 from Guildford to visit. Things have moved on for both of us but your standards have never slipped.

The MMD17 arrived Friday morning from my favourite kit supplier here in the UK (Martin Lynch & Son) and after getting the dipole up outside on the morning of the next day rec'd 5/9 into Spain.

Well, nothing particularly marvelous about that you might think. Well, let me tell you that was my first HF contact since moving to my current address over 2 years ago! And there's more . . . I am operating from a basement flat with th MMD17 only 10 feet from the ground surrounded by 16 feet concrete walls on all sides with so little room that both ends of the antenna are dropping 4 feet at right-angles due to lack of space. Oh, and the contact was on 20 meters (tunned with my fab Z11 Pro2).

Who say's you can't opearate out of a tin can!:-)

Using the Kent beacon (GB3VHF) as a standard, measurements (with the case replaced and screwed down) now show that after an hour of monitoring the TS790 frequency is too low by about 50 Hz. Hello Martin - This is just some well deserved customer feedback that I am sending you in relation to the ML&S shop.

I recently returned to amateur radio on retirement after a long absence. I also moved from Britain to Southern Ireland).

To get back into the hobby, my first step was to call in to talk to the guys at the shop, This was on one of my occasional trips to the UK in late August 09 and I was welcomed into the shop with a nice hot drink and shown around, and all of my questions were answered and equipment was demonstrated by a very friendly and courteous staff there.

In fact I was so impressed by this that I put in a purchase for a number of items by mail order.

Now, the place I retired from is Galway Mayo Institute of Technology, Galway, and I still do some research supervision there. Subsequently, I was delighted to place another order with ML&S through our technician, Tom Frawley, at GMIT, Dept of Electronic Eng. I believe this order is to be despatched this week.

I have also had occasion to seek the assistance of the workshop at ML&S, and again I have found the guys there to be friendly, courteous and helpful, even for small items.

I used to run licence classes for budding radio amateurs and I hope to take that up again next year. You can be sure that ML&S will be highly recommended by me.

Please pass on my best wishes and thanks to everyone at ML&S - and may they be able to keep up the good work in these difficult times.

I've erected the CHA-250BX that I bought from you in the week. I'm amazed. I've worked all bands 80m to 10m across Europe with no antenna tuner today and received reports of 59 without exception.

The reviews of this antenna on-line have not been great. If you get any queries from anybody you can quote me. It is an absolutely excellent antenna and works better than anything I have tried in recent months. My QTH is not a great location but this has made things a whole lot better. It's not as good on 20m as my half wave dipole but not far off and it works acoross all bands.

When I get some more funds I may well buy another for portable use.

I have recently purchased the FT-450 Stand, i final got round to fitting it today and i must say that it makes the radio look 100% better, easier to read the display and no more damaged knuckles from the VFO...lol, The only down side i found was that if you connect your 9 pin CAT lead or data cable,the back of the radio does not sit flush on the table, but i got round this by adding extra round rubber feet (from maplins), to the back fitted feet of the radio, lifting it up 5mm more. Again i must that you for excelent service and another great idea (something Yaesu should have done!!!)
